Narrative:
Maya’s Eden was made celebrating the province of Antique. In this Petrykivka piece, three elements of the province come together: Gumamela flowers as a representation of Antique’s natural beauty, corn for livelihood, and seven Maya birds for its people and enduring spirit, in which the number seven is also a representation of the seven days of Creation. Set against a deep maroon background, the color was inspired by the Pottery livelihood located in Sibalom, Antique, where the artist, roots from.Overall, the circular composition becomes an endless quiet Eden—where my heart, nature, work, and community exist in harmony, and every part of it holds place in Antique’s living landscape.
